4 Cheap and Easy Ways to Make Learning Fun

blocksYour kids spend their days learning at school but learning at home is just as important. The tough part is making learning fun and not seem like school!

You may not have a degree in education – or an overflowing bank account – but you can still help with your little one’s educational development. We put together some quick and easy tips below on how to make learning fun – without spending a lot of money.

- Make it visual. If your kids are learning how to count, add and subtract, use fruit, coins or candy to teach them. Or use these treat ideas for learning letters and how to read. Let them keep the treats so they have something to look forward to with each lesson.

- Watch videos. YouTube is chock full of educational videos. Browse the Education category for an age-appropriate video. The best part? It’s free!

- Get thrifty. Instead of spending an arm and a leg on brand-new educational supplies, hit up your local thrift shop or peruse nearby garage sales. You’ll find classic books, games and more at unbelievable prices. Those old-school wooden blocks, Highlights magazines and jigsaw puzzles are still great ways for little ones to learn!

- Swap it. Instead of placing huge monthly orders at Amazon.com, arrange a monthly book swap with neighbors or parents of your child’s classmates. You’ll get tons of new books without spending a penny!
