All you have to do is buy a MagicJack, plug it in, and plug a landline phone into it and you can call anyone in the U.S. for free using your home internet connection (it works better with broadband). It's kind of amazing. I got one of these as a gift and use it when I can't get cell phone service. Plus, you can actually try it for free with no obligation (although it's not that expensive). The one I have plugs into your computer, but it looks like they have a new version where you don't even need to use your computer with it - you just plug it into the wall. Amazing.

Magic Jack truly eliminated all the time I complained about my phone service and reception. the calls are crystal clear now. Haven't had any other problems so get it if you want to end your phone woes.
