Steven and Matthew Hardin first opened Hawgs Seafood Bar on December 13th, 1996. Following its success, Hawgs II opened in downtown San Jose in 2000. His Los Gatos family gave Steven, the original 'Hawgs', that name as a child. He was named 'Hawgs Jaws' due to having the fastest set of jaws among the 6 children at the dinner table.
