Any fisherman on the Nautical Mile can tell you that the ground E.B. Elliot's is built on was once home to the famous Poop Deck bar. Owned by Edna Beitterick, and her faithful bartender and caretaker Joe Elliot, the Poop Deck was a favorite haunt for local anglers to make merry and share fish stories. During its heyday, in the 50's and 60's, many celebrities frequented the Poop Deck before or after a day out on the best charter fishing boats around All berthed at Edna's dock. It was not uncommon to see personalities such as Yul Brenner, Pat Boone and Guy Lombardo, just to name a few, shouldered up to the bar alongside local captains and mates. For forty some odd years, the Poop Deck bar was the place to quench your thirst and exaggerate on the size of the fish caught that day.Somewhere along the way, a friendship was formed between Edna and two young mates by the names of Michael Danon and Michael Gross. As they got older the two Mikes would com to own and operate the Captain Lou Fleet sailing daily from the Poop Deck dock. One day, while out catching numerous (and enormous, as they will tell you) fluke, Mike and Mike spotted what looked like a small wooden raft afloat upon the waves. Upon closer inspections, they noted in their captain's log that the raft appeared to carry an Irish looking fellow sitting atop a keg of stout. Being generally friendly and always thirsty, they approached the raft and met Peter Clavin. Peter, it seemed, had sailed all the way from Ireland with the dreams of opening up a restaurant and a bar. After sharing in a few pints, the three men decided to become partners in this endeavor. E.B. Elliot's was born. In keeping with the traditions that Edna Beitterick and Joe Elliot set forth, Michael, Michael, and Peter opened E.B. Elliot's, a place to eat, drink and discuss the catch of the day.

The term "Been there, done that" has become a line often used to describe the bar scene on Long Island, but one long night changed it all. Promoter and bar operator Tim Lorito set off for a Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons with partner Matt Dill. Their night started with dinner at Georgia and hours of endless discussions about pushing the limits and doing something that hasn't been done before in the bar business. "Matt and I started brainstorming, writing notes on napkins, and began drawing out design ideas. We never made it out that weekend; instead, we headed home. We locked ourselves inside the house until our plan was complete. "Lorito went on to say, "We questioned ourselves "Why isn't there a focus on canned beer anymore?" Many years ago, the traditional way to enjoy a cold one was to pop open a can. If you were a beer lover, there was no greater sound. There was no lemon or lime to go with a cutte bottle back then. We realized a place called Cans could potentially not only be a great Long Island gathering spot, but the start of a national chain. I had this vision of an old Texas roadhouse with a southern twist, putting the emphasis on canned beer. I remembered the old song 100 bottles of beer on the wall and thought, why not 100 cans of beer? That same week Mr. Lorito, who is the promoter of Glo Night Club in Westbury, took a break from a meeting to grab some lunch at cafe Baci, located on the corner of Old Country Road and Post Avenue. While gazing out the window, he noticed a "For Rent" sign in the neighboring shopping center. After going inside this 4,000 square foot disaster of an abandoned restaurant, he called Matt, who is not only a bar owner but is a contractor as well, and the two began to realize their vision of what will be the first Cans in the country. Within 24 hours they signed a lease, added a "z" instead of an "s" at the end and "Canz" was born.

Owner and Head Chef, Felice, came to America from Croatia more than 30 years ago to begin his restaurant venture in New York. Starting his career as a cook in an Italian eatery in Manhattan and an eventual promotion as Head Chef, Felice gained the experience of managing his very own kitchen. In 1986, Felice became the proud owner of his own establishment in Woodside, Queens. With an emphasis on warm, friendly service and a relaxing dining experience, he and his family have been stimulating palates and satisfying appetites for over 22 years! In 2008, Felice and family relocated to Seaford, Long Island where they renovated the former Brown Osprey into a warm, relaxing and friendly location now proudly called IL Felice.Although excellent service and an inviting atmosphere is still our focus, we have made many additions and updates to our previous menu. IL Felice always offers a wide selection of pasta, chicken and veal, as well as succulent desserts, fine wine and specialty cocktails. IL Felice accommodates parties of up to 100 people and is an ideal setting for birthdays, business meetings, anniversaries, showers, communions, confirmations, engagements, graduations and rehearsal dinners.
