After Halloween Sales & The Biggest Halloween Clearance Deals

The key to scoring big savings on Halloween essentials is to shop once the October 31 holiday wraps up. On November 1, retailers like Spirit Halloween, Target and Walmart start marking down their Halloween collections, including pumpkins, spooky props, costumes and candy. Scan for Spirit Halloween coupons, Target promo codes, Walmart deals and post-Halloween offers so the clearance price is not the only discount working.

Whether you’re planning ahead for next year’s spooky season or simply love to decorate, here’s your ultimate list of post-Halloween clearance finds.

Halloween Clearance: The Hottest Deals After Halloween

There are certain things to look for when you’re browsing Halloween clearance sales. Costumes and candy are at the top of the list and many things can be repurposed throughout the year. You can expect to see serious markdowns on these items once Halloween is over.

  • Candy. Stores start to release their Halloween candy in September, but savvy shoppers know that the ideal time to buy is November. Some of our favorite places to shop for low-priced candy are Target, Walmart, Walgreens and your local grocery store. Walgreens coupons can help.

  • Costumes. Similar retailers, like Target and Spirit Halloween, will offer major price cuts on Halloween costumes after the holiday. You can use accessories and props for an upcoming costume party or play dress-up with your kids. Look for things like tiaras, dresses, wigs, coats and badges.

  • Fall decor. Fall decor is an essential category to shop post-Halloween. In anticipation of Thanksgiving, shoppers can save on seasonal linens, wreaths, tablecloths, dishes and pumpkins. Department stores are especially worth checking during this window, so compare JCPenney coupons, Macy’s deals, Kohl’s promo codes and Nordstrom offers before buying.

Expert tip! If you’re shopping for clearance items, it can be hard to hit the $49 free shipping threshold at JCPenney. Rather than purchasing items you don’t need, opt for the Ship to Store option. As long as you’re spending over $25, you can ship your order to your local store for free.

  • Baking supplies. The Halloween season offers festive baking supplies that can be used throughout the year. Look for cupcake mixes, sprinkles, baking pans and cookie cutter sets in November.

  • Candles & lights. Get ready for Christmas by stocking up on low-priced candles and lights during Halloween clearance sales. You’ll see deals on strings of lights that can be used for your tree.

Who has the greatest after Halloween sales?

Any store that is currently selling Halloween costumes or decor will offer some type of Halloween clearance deals to make room for new inventory. Our favorite places to shop for post-Halloween savings are Target, Walmart and Walgreens. Shoppers can also find savings through CVS coupons and Dollar General deals. In fact, Target follows a special markdown calendar in the days after a holiday:

  • November 1-3: 50% off costumes & decor, 30% off candy & snacks

  • November 4-6: 70% off costumes & decor, 50% off candy

  • November 7: 90% off remaining Halloween items

Expert tip! Use the Price Scanner via the Target app when you’re shopping in-store. Not all items will receive the yellow clearance sticker, but by checking the price, you’ll be able to see if an item listed at 50% off is really on sale for 70% off.

Does Spirit Halloween have sales after Halloween?

If you’re wondering if seasonal stores like Spirit Halloween offer clearance deals, the answer is yes. The only catch is that because Spirit Halloween stores disappear after the holiday, all sales after October 31 are final. That said, you’ll have a few days in November to shop for clearance costumes, props, accessories and wigs at Spirit Halloween. You can also find notable deals in the days leading up to October 31.

Physical Spirit Halloween stores may close after the holiday, but their website is available year-round.

Starting on November 1, Spirit Halloween will begin marking down its remaining inventory to clear out seasonal items, with discounts often starting around 50% off and sometimes reaching as much as 75% off as it gets closer to wrapping up the season. The sales include costumes, decorations, props and accessories, so it’s a great time to stock up if you’re planning for next year.

Is candy cheaper after Halloween?

Yes, candy is significantly cheaper after Halloween! Starting November 1, stores like Target, Walmart, Walgreens and CVS typically offer steep discounts on Halloween-themed candy to clear out inventory. These markdowns often start around 50% off, with discounts increasing over the following days and sometimes reaching up to 70-90% off as the stores aim to make room for holiday merchandise.

More Ways to Save Post-Halloween

Here are a few more ways to maximize the post-Halloween clearance sales this year:

  • Check local grocery stores. Supermarkets and grocery chains often have leftover Halloween candy and themed baked goods, as well as decor and costumes, at steep discounts. Stores like Aldi, Kroger and Safeway frequently run deals, so check for Kroger promo codes and Safeway coupons.

  • Shop at local craft stores. Michaels has Halloween sales on decorations, craft supplies and seasonal florals. Shoppers can visit Michaels 2-3 weeks after Halloween to look for the $5-$10 Grab Bags. The store will gather unsold seasonal merchandise and put them into these mystery bags, selling things like lights and home decor for a discounted price. Look for a Michaels coupon before you shop.
