We’ve got the inside scoop on a sale at one of our favorite stores.
Twice a year, Target hosts a Semi-Annual Toy Sale with more than 70% off popular items for kids in January and June. The next sale will take place in June 2026, which is why we’re preparing you for the savings now. Here’s what you need to know, from the estimated sale dates to the Target discount codes.
The first thing you need to know is this: the Semi-Annual Target Toy Sale is an unadvertised event, which means you’re not going to receive any notifications from Target before the sale begins. Every year, Target marks down different sections of its store to make room for new merchandise, hence the extremely low prices. In the summer, Target offers major price drops on toys and games for kids in June.
According to AllThingsTarget.com, the Toy Sale follows a special markdown schedule. When the sale starts, you’ll begin to see toys and games marked down by 15%. Then, in the first few weeks of June, you’ll see the same items listed for 30% off. As the month progresses, you’ll start to see up to 70% off.
Early deals - Up to 15% off
Mid-June deals - Up to 30% off
Late-June deals - Up to 70% off
According to AllThingsTarget.com, the final 70% discount is expected to take place on June 24, 2026, so shop accordingly.
The key to taking advantage of the toy clearance deals at Target is to look at the price tags. Shoppers will find yellow clearance stickers on marked-down items and decoding these tags will tell you when to buy.
When you see a yellow sticker, there will be a number printed in the upper right-hand corner. This number will be 30, 50 or 70. That will tell you the exact discount. If you see 30, you’ll know that the item will be marked down further. If you see 70, you’ll know it’s time to make a purchase.
If you notice a 9-digit number on the yellow sticker, that is the DPCI, otherwise known as the Department, Class, Item number. This can clue you into inventory at another Target store. You can look up the DPCI number to see if a toy is available at another location.
Price tags aren’t always accurate. An item that is marked down by 30% may actually be marked down by 70% in the system, but the price tag does not match the discount. To double-check prices, download the Target app and scan the barcode. If the app shows that the item is 70%, this will be honored at checkout.

The Target Circle Hack. Shoppers cannot use coupons on top of sale prices during the Toy Clearance, but they can use a discount from Target Circle. Pay with your Target Circle Card to get an additional 5% off.
Whether you’re a parent, a teacher or a babysitter, you can stock up on toys for the year and save an unbelievable amount of money when you shop the Target Toy Clearance. If you end up with items that you don’t need, donate them to a local toy drive so that they can find a good home. Always use a Target coupon on your purchase when possible.
