Our Guide to 2026 Costco Shopping Policies

• Where do I enter a promo code at Costco?

At Costco, go to the Checkout page and find the upper right Promo Code box above Estimated Tax. Enter your code and click Apply Code to apply your discount to your order.

• How do returns work at Costco?

Costco offers a very shopper-friendly return policy, allowing most items to be returned at any time for a full refund, which is great for peace of mind. Electronics and major appliances must be returned within 90 days, but this is still generous compared to many other stores. Returns are easy both in-store and online, and you usually do not need a receipt since purchases are tracked through your membership. Some exceptions apply, such as custom products and items with specific warranties.

• What is Costco's shipping procedure?

Costco's shipping policy is convenient and flexible, offering Same-Day Delivery for groceries through Instacart in most cities and 2-Day Delivery for non-perishables across the US, with some exceptions. Shoppers benefit from free 2-Day shipping on qualifying orders and free standard prescription delivery, making it a solid choice for savings and reliability. Large items include delivery, installation, and haul-away, adding extra value for Costco members.

• Does Costco have any discount programs?

Costco provides a valuable special discount for new members who are active duty military, veterans, and their families, making it a great choice for those seeking extra savings. Eligible shoppers who verify their military status through a trusted third-party service can receive a Digital Costco Shop Card, with the value typically ranging from $20 to $40 depending on the current promotion. This offer is a solid incentive for military families considering a Costco membership, and the verification process helps ensure the benefit goes to those who qualify. Costco's commitment to supporting the military community with exclusive deals adds to its reputation for value and customer appreciation.

• Can I cancel an order at Costco?

Costco allows online order cancellations within a short window, typically about one hour. After that, cancellation may not be possible without contacting customer service. Orders placed through third-party partners like Instacart may incur fees if canceled after shopping begins. Some items, such as e-certificates and precious metals, are not eligible for cancellation or return. Memberships can be canceled anytime for a full refund under Costco's satisfaction guarantee.

• Does Costco provide a rewards program?

Costco's loyalty program requires a paid membership to access their famously low prices and generous 100% satisfaction guarantee, making it a solid choice for frequent shoppers. The Executive Membership stands out by offering a 2% annual reward on eligible purchases and extra discounts on services, which can add up for big spenders. New members in select professions may also get a promotional Costco Shop Card, adding extra value.

• Does Costco offer credit card options?

The Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi is a strong choice for loyal Costco shoppers. With no annual fee for members and cash back rates on gas, travel, dining and Costco.com purchases, it offers real value. Cash back rewards are issued once a year. The card also doubles as your membership ID and charges no foreign transaction fees. However, the variable APR can be high depending on your credit, so it is best for those who pay balances in full each month.
