Our Guide to 2026 PetSmart Shopping Policies

• Where do I enter my PetSmart promo code?

Enter your PetSmart code in the Promo Code box at the bottom right of the Your Cart page. Click Apply to redeem your promo before completing your purchase.

• What's the standard return policy at PetSmart?

PetSmart offers a shopper-friendly return policy, allowing most items to be returned within 60 days for a full refund with a receipt, which is great for peace of mind. If you lack a receipt or return after 60 days, you'll get store credit at the lowest recent price. Items must be unused and in original packaging. Online orders can be returned in-store for free, but mail returns have a shipping fee. Some exceptions apply, like a shorter window for live animals and no returns on prescription meds.

• What is PetSmart's shipping policy?

PetSmart's shipping policy gives shoppers flexibility with Standard, 2-Day, and Next-Day delivery options across the contiguous US, and even supports shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and military addresses. Free standard shipping is a nice perk for Treats Rewards members on qualifying orders over $49, but some exclusions apply, like live pets and certain foods. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout, so shoppers should review totals before finalizing their order.

• Are discounts part of PetSmart's offerings?

PetSmart provides a 10% discount for military members, seniors, and first responders on any PetsHotel overnight stay, and a 10% discount for seniors and military members at the Grooming Salon on Tuesdays. Shoppers must show valid ID to qualify. While these deals are a nice perk for eligible groups, discounts for students or teachers are not available and offers may vary by location, so check locally.

• What is PetSmart's order cancellation policy?

PetSmart's order cancellation policy is strict, as most orders cannot be changed or canceled once processing begins, which may be inconvenient for shoppers who need flexibility. While you might be able to cancel by calling customer service, this is not guaranteed. However, you can return items in-store for a refund if needed. PetSmart will notify you by email if they cancel your order due to stock or payment issues, and you won't be charged. This policy is important for coupon and deal seekers to know before making a purchase, as quick decisions are necessary and returns may be the only option if you change your mind.

• Is there a loyalty program through PetSmart?

PetSmart Treats Rewards is a free loyalty program that lets members earn points on purchases, services and eligible donations. Members can unlock exclusive deals, pet birthday surprises, free shipping on qualifying orders and higher-tier perks as they spend more. After joining, shoppers can earn 1,000 points by completing their Treats profile, as 1,000 points can be redeemed for $2 off.

• Can I use Buy Now, Pay Later at PetSmart?

Use Afterpay at PetSmart to split purchases into 4 interest-free installments, due every two weeks. Eligible online and in-store orders can include most products and services with the exception of gift cards. Choose Afterpay at checkout to spread costs and avoid interest. Manage upcoming payments in the Afterpay app to stay on schedule.

• Is there a price match policy at PetSmart?

PetSmart's price match policy is a solid benefit for savvy shoppers, letting you get the lowest price by matching prices from major competitors both in-store and online. You'll need proof of the lower price, and it can't be combined with other discounts. This policy helps ensure you never overpay for pet supplies at PetSmart.

• Does PetSmart accept competitor coupons?

PetSmart accepts physical competitor coupons when they apply to the exact same item sold in PetSmart stores. Competitor coupons cannot be used for free items, services, live pets, or door buster promotions, including offers available only while supplies last. Digital competitor coupons and coupons for nonmatching products do not qualify.

• Which PetSmart products are excluded from coupons?

PetSmart does not accept expired, invalid, altered, copied, blurry, barcode-free, digital manufacturer, or digital competitor coupons. Coupons must match the purchased item, be presented at checkout, and are generally limited to 1 use and 1 coupon per purchase. Coupons cannot exceed the item's value or be exchanged for cash, credit, or gift cards. Additional exclusions apply to rebates, vouchers, targeted coupons used by others, certain competitor offers, and Litter Robot products with Adoption Kit coupons.
