Our efforts show that Macy's leans into frequent sitewide and department-wide discounts, often spotlighted through homepage banners and checkout promos. Promo codes surface regularly, while Macy's Star Rewards and Star Money deliver extra value for members. Rotating markdowns and clearance sections show a clear pattern of price drops, making promotional offers a persistent feature throughout the shopping experience. Shoppers can look for email sign-up discounts, Flash Sales, and Macy's Money that is available during promotional periods.

Our Guide to 2026 Macy's Shopping Policies
Where do I enter a promo code at Macy's?
On the Your Bag page at Macy's, find the Promo Code box in the upper right under Enter promo code. Enter your code in the Promo Code field and click Apply to redeem before checkout.
How does Macy's handle returns?
Macy's offers a generally shopper-friendly return policy, allowing most items to be returned by mail or in-store within 30 days as long as they are in original, saleable condition with tags attached. While in-store returns are always free for everyone, Star Rewards members benefit from free return shipping, while non-members face a $9.99 return shipping fee, which is deducted from the refund. Refunds go back to the original payment method, but gift returns are credited to an Easy Exchange Card, making returns straightforward for most customers.
Macy's offers shoppers a flexible shipping policy with standard, premium, and express options, making it easy to choose based on urgency and budget. Free standard shipping is a great perk for orders of $49, and Star Rewards members benefit from even lower thresholds. Same-day delivery is a convenient option in select areas for an added fee, but note that some delivery restrictions apply. Overall, Macy's shipping policy is shopper-friendly and competitive.
Macy's order cancellation policy is fairly strict, giving shoppers only a short 15 minute window to cancel online after placing an order. After that, you can't make changes, but you can refuse delivery or return the item for a refund. If you miss a store pickup, Macy's automatically cancels and refunds after 7 days. This policy is straightforward but requires quick action, so shoppers should double-check orders before submitting.
Macy's Star Rewards loyalty program is a solid choice for frequent shoppers looking to save, offering free membership and four rewarding tiers. You earn points on every purchase, which can be redeemed for Star Money on future buys. Perks like birthday surprises, exclusive offers, and free shipping for higher tiers add extra value, making it a worthwhile program for maximizing savings at Macy's.
Macy's offers frequent seasonal and annual sales like Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Black Friday, along with major semi-annual events in January and July where shoppers can find discounts from 25% to 75%. Their popular One-Day Sales, often spanning two days each month, provide extra savings across many departments, making it a reliable choice for deal seekers looking for trusted discounts throughout the year.
Does Macy's provide Buy Now, Pay Later financing?
At Macy's, eligible shoppers can request Klarna or Zip for a purchase paid in four installments: one at checkout and the remaining three at two-week intervals. Applicants must be 18 or older and meet the provider's U.S. address and payment-method requirements; approval is required. The two options can produce different totals. Klarna Pay in 4 charges no interest but can carry a late fee, whereas Zip may add an origination fee to the order even if all four payments arrive on time, plus a fee for a late payment.
• Source • Source This Pay Later finding is based on our team's live checkout simulation on Macys.com.
Does Macy's offer price matching with competitors?
Macy's does not offer price matching with other stores, but shoppers can benefit from a price adjustment policy if an item they bought drops in price within 10 days. This gives some peace of mind, though exclusions apply for promo code or special sale purchases.
Macy's credit cards, issued by Citibank, offer strong savings for shoppers, including a sign-up discount of up to $100 and automatic enrollment in the Star Rewards program. Cardholders enjoy exclusive offers and free shipping. The Macy's American Express Card adds extra rewards at restaurants, gas stations, and supermarkets. With variable APRs and a minimum interest charge, these cards are best for those who pay balances in full.
What can you earn with Macy’s Money during promotional periods?
Shoppers can earn Macy's Money during promotional periods. During this time, if you spend $50, you'll get $10 in Macy's Money. If you spend $200, you'll get $40 in Macy's Money.
What are the perks of downloading the Macy’s mobile app?
Get early access to new deals and redeem Star Rewards for store credit with the Macy's app. Enjoy app-only offers, in-store tools like Macy's Pay and barcode scanning, plus easy order tracking, pickup management, and Macy's Card payment control.
Macy's frequently hosts flash sales with deep discounts up to 70% across categories like jewelry, toys, and apparel. These limited-time deals are typically advertised on the homepage, have limited inventory and often only last a single day.
How can Macy's registry shoppers save on select home items?
Baby registries include 10% off select items starting 60 days before and lasting 180 days after your arrival date. Wedding registries feature 10-20% off most items, plus 10% off furniture, mattresses, and rugs for 180 days after the event.
