What we notice is that markdowns pop up for the full Johnny Was site or for specific groups of items as limited-time events, often auto-applied at checkout for a smooth experience. Discount codes turn up regularly, while a traditional loyalty programs with points is not available. Email sign-up incentives consistently appear, pointing to a focus on new customers. Sale sections feature targeted markdowns, but wider clearance pricing is not a regular feature.

Our Guide to 2026 Johnny Was Shopping Policies
Where do I enter a Promo Code at Johnny Was?
On the Johnny Was My Bag page, find the Promo Code box in the upper right. Enter your Promo Code, click APPLY, and make sure the discount is applied.
How does Johnny Was handle returns?
Johnny Was offers a fairly standard return policy for online shoppers, allowing returns or exchanges within 30 days for most items, as long as they are in original condition with tags and packaging. Beauty and specialty items have a shorter 14-day window and must be unopened. Final sale items, discounted by 50% or more, cannot be returned or exchanged. Shoppers are responsible for return shipping costs, and original shipping fees are non-refundable, so factor this in before purchasing.
Johnny Was provides ground shipping within the contiguous United States. Free ground shipping is available on orders $125+. A $10 fee applies to orders under $125. Expedited options are also offered, including Express Delivery for $20 and Overnight Delivery for $35.
Johnny Was does not offer a student discount, and military or teacher discounts named by third-party sites are not confirmed on the official Johnny Was website. There is no listed program for these appreciation discounts, no set amount, and no posted rules on the official site about who can use it or how. Without an official policy, availability, timing, and limits are unknown. Treat any such claims as unverified until Johnny Was posts clear details on its site.
What's the procedure to cancel at Johnny Was?
Johnny Was generally does not allow shoppers to modify or cancel orders once they are placed, which can be inconvenient if you change your mind after checkout. However, for in-store pick-up orders, if you do not pick up your order within 3 business days of it being ready, it will be canceled automatically. In rare cases, customer service may be able to request a cancellation for you, but this is not guaranteed and depends on availability. This strict policy means you should double-check your cart before placing an order, as flexibility is limited.
Johnny Was does not have an official loyalty or rewards program, and there is no points system. You can still save by joining the email newsletter for a sign up discount and by adding your birthday to get a birthday discount. These options are free and simple. After you join, watch your inbox for the offer, and confirm your birthday details so the reward arrives. For future savings, remain subscribed to keep getting newsletter discounts and birthday discounts.
Johnny Was runs seasonal promotions with broad savings. Across these events, discounts often range from 30% to 75%. The biggest named events are Black Friday and Cyber Monday. During those, the brand has historically offered 25% off sitewide, with 30% off available when your purchase totals over $500. Look for these seasonal windows to use the sitewide offer, and plan your cart if you want to reach the higher tier.
Does Johnny Was offer Buy Now, Pay Later?
Johnny Was offers Buy Now Pay Later through Afterpay. Eligible purchases from $35 to $2,000 can be split into four installments. Approval and availability depend on Afterpay eligibility, which can vary by shopper and order details. Late fees may apply if payments are missed. Review Afterpay terms for current limits, approval criteria, payment schedule, and any restrictions, since not every customer or cart will qualify.

Can I get a price adjustment at Johnny Was?
Johnny Was offers a fair price adjustment policy, letting shoppers get a refund if an item drops in price within 14 days of purchase, but only for full-price items and only matching prices from their own stores. Sale and promo items are excluded, and they do not match prices from outlets or other retailers, so this policy is best for those who buy at full price and want peace of mind if prices drop soon after.
Sell eligible items through Johnny Was Pre-Loved to turn past purchases into store credit. Approved sales include a prepaid shipping label, and sellers get a Johnny Was gift card for 100% of the sale price.
