Over many review sessions, we find Theory favoring selective price drops within its sale section alongside regularly available discount codes for sign-up and in-app purchases. Markdowns tend to appear as gradual reductions rather than sweeping discounts. The MyTheory Program is also available, offering tiered savings and added perks. The savings activity is measured and limited, with discounts appearing in a controlled, product-specific manner.

Our Guide to 2026 Theory Shopping Policies
Where do you enter a Promo Code at Theory?
Find the Promo Code box in the middle right of the Shopping Bag page and enter your code there. Click Apply to add the Promo Code to your order before checkout.
What's the standard return policy at Theory?
Theory offers a fairly standard return policy with some regional differences that shoppers should note. Most full-priced items can be returned within a reasonable window, but sale and final sale items are often excluded or have stricter timelines. Items must be unused and in original condition, and some locations deduct a return shipping fee from your refund. Gift returns are usually processed as store credit or e-gift cards. Overall, the policy is clear but not especially generous, so check the details before buying.
Theory's shipping policy is straightforward and reliable, with most orders processed within 3 to 5 business days and standard delivery arriving soon after, making it easy for shoppers to plan their purchases. While delivery to PO Boxes and military addresses takes longer, the use of trusted carriers like UPS for returns adds confidence. Overall, Theory offers a dependable shipping experience that is clear and convenient for online shoppers.
Theory offers students and recent graduates 15% off select full-priced merchandise. Eligibility requires valid identification, and graduates must be within 5 years of graduation. The discount is available only for purchases made on Theory.com and cannot be used at Theory retail stores, Theory Outlet stores or TheoryOutlet.com.
Theory offers shoppers a very limited order cancellation window of just one hour after placing an order, which can be done from the order confirmation page or by logging into your account and checking your order status. If the Cancel Order button is disabled, the 1-hour period has ended. Cancellations are not guaranteed and orders cannot be changed after being placed. If your cancellation is successful, your payment method will not be charged.
Theory offers a straightforward loyalty program called the MyTheory Program which is free to join and rewards shoppers based on how much they spend each calendar year. Unlike points-based systems, your status and benefits are determined only by your total eligible purchases at Theory stores or online. The more you spend, the higher your status tier and the better the rewards you receive.
Are large sales events part of Theory's offerings?
Theory.com offers recurring sales events like Black Friday and seasonal promotions, where shoppers can often find discounts of up to 40% off sitewide. Extra savings, like an additional 10% off with Apple Pay, have typically been offered online in July, but exclusions apply. Overall, Theory's seasonal sales offer strong value.
Does Theory have a Buy Now, Pay Later program?
Theory gives shoppers convenient buy now pay later choices with Klarna and Affirm. Klarna lets you split your total into four interest-free payments every two weeks starting at checkout. Affirm offers flexible plans with no late fees. Both options are easy to select at checkout and follow Theory's regular return policy.
Are price match or adjustment policies at Theory?
Theory offers a straightforward price adjustment policy that lets shoppers request a one-time price match on full-price items if the price drops within 14 days of purchase. The item must be in stock in the same color and size and requests are handled by email. Final sale and promo items are excluded.
Watch for the annual Friends & Family Sale in late March or early April, usually offering 25% off regular-priced items. Other promos, like an extra 20% off select sale styles, may run at different times.
What in-store services does Theory offer for free?
Theory offers complimentary standard alterations at U.S. stores for Platinum and Gold MyTheory program members on men's and women's pants-hems (including cuffed bottoms), jacket sleeves at cuff only (not from shoulder), and skirts-straight hems.
